Description : The Beatles' iconic Anthology documentary series has been restored and reissued in a new, updated format.
The eight original episodes of the series chronicle the legendary journey that began in Liverpool and Hamburg and soon conquered the world. They bring to life timeless stories—of Beatlemania, the band's groundbreaking arrival in the US, their role at the forefront of 1960s counterculture, their spiritual quest in India, and their subsequent breakup. And throughout it all, a constant thread: music, always music.
A brand-new ninth episode is now available, featuring previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul, George, and Ringo reuniting from 1994 to 1995 to work on the Anthology and reflecting on their lives together as The Beatles. The restoration was overseen by the Apple Corps production team in collaboration with Peter Jackson's Wingnut Films and Park Road Post, as well as Giles Martin, who created new audio mixes for much of the music featured.
S1.E1 ∙ July 1940 – March 1963 In this episode, The Beatles discuss: their childhood, early musical influences, how they met, their time in Hamburg, and their first recordings.
S1.E2 ∙ March 1963 – February 1964 Focuses on the band's first tours and television appearances in their native Britain, and how this led to Beatlemania and popularity abroad.
S1.E3 ∙ February 1964 – July 1964: The Beatles achieve success in the US as they did in the UK, reaching number one on the American charts. This leads to an American tour, an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, and a role in the feature film A Hard Day's Night.
S1.E4 ∙ August 1964 – August 1965: Beatlemania continues, and Paul's new song deviates from the rock 'n' roll genre. Individual characteristics become more apparent, while maintaining a clear image. The band reflects on marijuana use and political recognition during this period.
S1.E5 ∙ August 1965 – July 1966 They analyze their performance and the audience's reaction at Shea Stadium and their trip to Japan. At the time, they were experimenting with drugs and music. The albums Rubber Soul and Revolver are an expression of this.
S1.E6 ∙ July 1966 – June 1967 The band changes direction after a series of negative reviews that force them to stop touring and focus on studio work.
S1.E7 ∙ June 1967 – July 1968 In this part, they discuss topics such as their trip to India with guru Maharishi, the death of Brian Epstein, the expansion of Apple's business, the movie Yellow Submarine, and finally the relationship between John and Yoko Ono.
S1.E8 ∙ July 1968 – Until the End This episode looks at the last two years of the band's existence: the recording process of the albums Abbey Road and Let it Be, changes at Apple Records and the rooftop concert.
S1.E9 ∙ The Threetles Sessions Paul, George and Ringo reunite to record old demos and create the Beatles Anthology.
